Is my cat a dog?

or just plain weird:

He:

runs around carrying toys in his mouth

chews on a life-size cat toy without forgiveness

pants with with tongue out as he ransacks the home

eats/chews everything -including my homework

FOOD PREFERENCES INCLUDE:

tomato sauce

tomatoes

cauliflower

sweet peas

chickpeas

rice

and a little grapefruit juice now and then
Is my cat a dog?
i'd say he's just a non-typical cat (he may take offense if he hears you call him a dog).

one of my cats is like that too: he'll sit on command, fetch, carry his toys around until he finds you then plop on the floor gnawing on it, eats all sorts of oddities if allowed (mushrooms, broccoli, carrots, rice krispies) and acts like a *ahem* dog sometimes too. only thing he doesn't do is bark and lift his leg, lol. my girls, on the other hand, are well behaved and act like you'd expect a cat to act.

who says cats have no personality? at least with cats like our boys, life is never dull. :-)

NOTE: havoc angel has some issues, it appears...poor little boy...
Reply:I've wondered the same thing about my baby we always say that his mom has some explaining to do. He chews on stuff like the corner of my couch, and shoes and he plays fetch and the best part he barks. No joke its the whole reason why I chose him out of the litter.
Reply:may be you have a cat dog in one,
Reply:My Kitty Egypt thinks she is a dog because I have always been a dog person and she is growing up with 3 dogs.
Reply:One of my cats is very similar, except she follows me everywhere (and I didn't even tell her to "heel"). She likes apples and pears (no seeds) and chili without onions. However, chili gives her gas. You know about the old joke, "It was the dog...."

My cat got into the stamps and licked the glue off the back (then threw up on the rug), tips over the wastebasket to see if there's anything "good" she can drag around and also will fetch. She carries around a fuzzy ball and meows at the top of her lungs while carrying the ball. She also digs up plants. So you tell me.... cat or dog? (She doesn't have the b.o. a dog has and doesn't drool). I consider her the cat with dog manners. She's got a great purr. Oh, she's chewed on my shoes, too.
Reply:I don't find anything odd about carrying toys around in his mouth or even chewing on everything. Some cats just do that. They'll treat toys like they're a mouse or something. (Which they would carry like that.)

I do have to wonder about the panting. Cats should not pant. Sticking his tongue out is one thing. But does he actually pant? If so, I think I'd at least ask a vet about that. And if he ever drools, get him to a vet. Cats only drool when there's a problem. They are not like dogs in this respect.

I also would watch it on that food. They aren't supposed to have tomatoes, but a tiny amount shouldn't hurt. And I wouldn't give rice. Overall, I would not be giving those foods on purpose (there's enough garbage in most commercial cat foods), except maybe as an occasional treat if he likes it. And I honestly don't know how cats handle grapefruit juice, but it has some odd properties unlike other fruits and I'd be afraid to let a cat have it.
Reply:maybe a dog in a cat's body...lol
Reply:I wondered where my kitty girls brother went to!!!!
Reply:My cat eats q-tips from the garbage, chews on the furniture, and barks to be fed-a very short demanding "Maw!". He also loves to drink from the toilet.....
Reply:your cat may think its a dog. that is not exactly normal for a cat. i think its quite cool though. you may have a cat-dog
Reply:has the cat grown up with dogs coz that might be the reason

i think you should post a pic for me to gleeson.sophie@yahoo.com but i think it my just like being a little weird but some cats just do that my old cat molly loved chewing on a cat doll and chewed my drawings and he/she might pant because she is hot and most cats like that food hope i helped lov ya BYE!
